Photoshop and Film

By February 18, 2013Uncategorized

Have you have you ever been watching a movie with major star and somewhere in the story the main characters have to pick up and look at a picture with a huge photoshop fail on it?  You know, the scene where we are in the main characters house and we see all the poorly superimposed pictures of the main character with other family members or past presidents?  Ring a bell? lol

Why is it multimillion dollar budgets don’t allow for some basic photoshop compositing? The light is always wrong and picture looks clearly like a cut out.  Its hilarious.  Funny thing is that most sets have an on set photographer that is paid to take production shots.  Now, I’m not sure if they are on set for the whole shoot or only a few days but either way, I’d willing to bet that most of these guys have photoshop skills or know someone who does.

With production value so high up on the radar in a big budget film you would think that this little oversight would not go unnoticed.  The marketing budget for the key art and advertising campaigns are huge.  Why not throw this responsibility to these guys?  They are photoshopping the life out of your movie poster so a little composite of the photos in the film couldn’t hurt right?

I know its probably an oversight or a concern thats way down the totem pole but if Hollywood is listening…we noticed the lack of attention hollywood, we noticed.

Actually this is not the only photoshop fail the movie industry is guilty of. Looks like even in the marketing corners are cut.  Check ou these photo disasters that have gotten out into the public.
